Clean the altar daily. Even a quick wipe keeps the sacred zone alive and welcoming.

Avoid clutter in the pooja area. A smaller altar with fewer objects usually feels calmer and more devotional.

Do not store random household items like bills, keys, chargers, or utility tools in the shrine cabinet.

Use light, gentle colors around the pooja space so the area feels open rather than heavy.

Remove broken idols, cracked frames, and damaged sacred décor respectfully instead of leaving them in worship.

If safe and feasible, keep the diya in the Southeast side of the altar or pooja room.

If the shrine is near a toilet wall, strengthen hygiene, ventilation, and visual separation instead of becoming anxious.

Face East or North while praying when the layout comfortably allows it.

Maintain ventilation and natural or soft warm light so the sacred corner never feels stale.

Avoid placing photos of deceased family members inside the primary deity altar zone.
