Naivedya is the practice of offering food to the deity before consuming it. This transforms ordinary food into prasad (blessed food) and cultivates gratitude.
అవలోకనం
Naivedya (Sanskrit: नैवेद्य) literally means "food offered to God." It is a way of acknowledging that all sustenance comes from the Divine and expressing gratitude before eating.
The practice involves placing a small portion of prepared food before the deity, ringing a bell, chanting a prayer, and waiting for a few moments before considering it blessed. The offered food becomes Prasad.
This simple practice can be done even without elaborate puja setup - mentally offering the food with gratitude is also valid.
