గణేష వందన

Purpose

Lord Ganesha is Vighnaharta - the remover of obstacles. Praying to Ganesha before any new beginning ensures success and smooth completion of the task.

Overview

In Hindu tradition, no auspicious work begins without first invoking Lord Ganesha. He is the first deity to be worshipped in any puja or ceremony. This practice is called "Adi Puja" or "Ganesh Puja at the beginning."

The practice can be as simple as mentally chanting "Om Ganeshaya Namah" or as elaborate as a full Ganesh puja. For daily work, a simple prayer with folded hands is sufficient.

This is done before: starting a new job, beginning studies, starting a journey, signing contracts, inaugurating a business, or any important undertaking.
