Shubham Karoti Kalyanam (Lamp-lighting Prayer)
Shubham karoti kalyaanam aarogyam dhana-sampadaam
Shatru-buddhi-vinaashaaya deepa-jyotir namo-stu te
शुभं करोति कल्याणम् आरोग्यं धनसम्पदाम्।
शत्रुबुद्धिविनाशाय दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तु ते॥
O light of the lamp — you who bring auspiciousness, health, and wealth, and who destroys the intellect of enemies — I bow to you.
Śubham = auspiciousness; karoti = brings; kalyāṇam = well-being; ārogyam = health; dhana-sampadām = wealth and prosperity; śatru-buddhi = enemy-intellect; vināśāya = for destruction of; dīpa-jyotiḥ = lamp-light; namaḥ astu te = bow to you.
When lighting the lamp at dusk for evening prayers (sandhya / deepa puja).
