Goddess Kali is the fierce form of the Divine Mother, representing time, change, and the destruction of evil. She emerged from Durga to defeat demons that could not be killed by conventional means.
Despite her fearsome appearance with a garland of skulls and tongue dripping blood, Kali is a protective mother goddess. She destroys ego, attachments, and negative forces.
In Kerala, Bhadrakali is particularly revered as the protector of temples and villages.
Symbolism & Significance
Dark color represents the void beyond forms. Garland of skulls shows transcendence of ego. Red tongue symbolizes hunger for dissolving creation.
