Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, is one of the most worshipped gods in Hinduism. He is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and the brother of Lord Kartikeya.
Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles (Vighneshwara) and is traditionally worshipped at the beginning of any new venture, journey, or important undertaking. His blessings are sought for wisdom, success, and good fortune.
He is also considered the god of beginnings, arts, sciences, and intellect. Devotees believe that seeking his blessings before starting anything new ensures smooth progress and success.
Symbolism & Significance
Elephant head symbolizes wisdom and understanding. Large ears for listening more, speaking less. Broken tusk represents sacrifice for the greater good. Big belly contains the universe.
