Work Is Worship When the Mind Is Clean

The Bhagavad Gita's concept of karma yoga teaches that work done as an offering — without attachment to personal gain or credit — purifies the mind as effectively as formal spiritual practice. Attitude transforms ordinary labour into sacred action.

Bhagavad Gita, BG 9.27 Epic / Itihasa Work & Leadership Vyasa

Original Text

यत्करोषि यदश्नासि
Transliteration: Yatkaroṣi yadaśnāsi

Meaning

The Bhagavad Gita's concept of karma yoga teaches that work done as an offering — without attachment to personal gain or credit — purifies the mind as effectively as formal spiritual practice. Attitude transforms ordinary labour into sacred action.

Practical Application

Choose one task today — even a routine one — and complete it as if it were an offering. Remove all distraction. Do not check results mid-task. When finished, step back without seeking acknowledgment. Notice how the quality of your attention differs from a task done for reward.
