Teaching
Original Text
Meaning
Vedantic texts consistently describe the first quality of a student as receptivity — the willingness to hear that one's understanding is incomplete. Without this, no teaching reaches its destination. Pride closes the ear; humility opens it.
Practical Application
Think of one area of your life where you have been resistant to feedback. Ask yourself: what am I protecting by refusing to hear this? Then identify one person whose perspective you have dismissed — and genuinely listen to them next time they offer it.
