Mountain, Hinge, and Supported Lunge
Three beginner patterns teach a lot: standing evenly, folding from the hips with a long spine, and stepping back carefully into a shorter supported lunge.
You do not need depth. You need balance, grounded feet, and a range that lets the breath stay smooth.
Learning Checklist
-
Stand through both feet
Avoid collapsing into one hip.
-
Lengthen before folding
Think long spine first, lower second.
-
Shorten the stance if needed
A smaller lunge often feels steadier and safer.
