Beginners improve fastest when they notice short and long vowel sounds. You do not need a full grammar course. You only need to hear whether a sound is clipped or carried.
When the breath is rushed, vowels collapse. When the breath is steady, the mantra becomes easier to pronounce and easier to remember.
